5 Mistakes You’re Making With Your Wash N’Go on 4C hair

When you have thick natural coils and do not know a thing about bringing your curls to life. Then this is for you.

When you do a big chop not only can you be worried on not knowing what to do with you hair. You will also not sure how to style it besides simply letting it be. Well what I wanted to do today is go through the mistakes you could be making to not get your curls to life. If you understand these mistakes the next time you want eye- popping curls you will know exactly what to do.

I know you cover your body with a towel when you take a shower. However, when it comes to your hair keep the towel far away. What the towel does is raise the hair cuticles, causes frizz and sucks out the moisture from your hair. Instead dry you hair with a cotton material like a t-shirt or if you want a towel specifically for your hair a microfiber towel works just as well. When using a towel, this is not to make your hair extremely dry since you’re going for the wash n go look. However, when the water is overly dripping on your face or blot it a bit. You definitely want the hair to still have water in it. However it’s okay if you need to re-wet it when styling which brings me to my next point.

Mistake 2: Not using enough water

You need to have the hair soaking wet. So, that’s why it’s best to do it right out of the shower. If you have wondered why do you need super soaking wet hair it’s because your texture is easier to work with when it’s wet, so styling during these stage can give you the best results. Don’t apply product on dry hair because the curls will not come out where your hair is dry. When working on certain parts of your hair it’s natural that other sections you haven’t touched yet will become dry. You want to have a spray bottle with water next to you to get the dry spots wet again.

Mistake 3: Not patient

I know you hear the word wash n go. But frankly, wash n go is anything but a quick process. It takes at least 50-55 minutes to activate your curls. You have to take the time do it to really get some great results. If you do not have patience, it will not come out how you want it too. If you take the time to do it the style can at last up to a week.
What you want to do is take small sections, curl definer gel and curl it around your finger to activate it. When wrapping it around your finger it’s considered the coiling method. it’s going be able to clump several strands of curls for a more noticeable pattern. The more you practice the faster you will get when it comes to this method.

Mistake 4: Not the right curl definer

In anything when it comes to your hair having the right product can make a world of difference. I want to make sure that you get a styling gel and not edge control. A lot of women think the extra hold gel can give tehm better results when trying to enhance their curls. My personal faves that have work wonders when it comes to getting a nice curl definition are the curl definers from Aunt Jackie like curl boss or don’t shrink flaxseed gel that you can find at your local Walmart. Take this curl definer in small sections to be able to wrap each curls around your finger. If you do not have enough hair to be able to wrap it around your finger. What you can do is take the time to put the gel on each section of your hair and use the denman brush or a comb to get your curls more defined. So water mix with the gels above is what’s going to help with the curls popping out.

Mistake 5: Limit hands in hair syndrome

When your hair is drying don’t mess with the hair at all. Of course we would recommend air drying but when it’s cold or you don’t want wet hair going outside there are other options. You can blow dry with a diffuser, sit under a hooded dryer on low or medium heat. When your curls are poppin please leave the hair alone for it to last a long time. I know it can be hard to resist when looking at your curls but do not play with your hair. Be aware of the times when you’re bored or you can easily be touching your hair without realizing it.
Remember to have your hair last you can use a bonnet or have a silk or satin pillowcase. To refresh your curls use a refreshing spray and begin to fluff where it’s needed.
